It's important to remove graffiti within the first 24 hours, or as soon as possible. The quicker the graffiti is removed the less of a chance the property will be targeted again.
Removal Methods
In the majority of cases, the removal method depends on the surface (brick, stone, pebbledash, rendered surfaces, wood ect.) and type of substance used (crayon, spray paint, felt tip pen ect.) A specific solvent based chemical will be applied directly onto the graffiti, the chemical is then agitated into the substance, and finally the whole surface area is power washed using either hot or cold water.
Please note the photos below. The graffiti removal is from Brick, painted surfaces, as well as a plastic fence. Each surface requires a different chemical to remove the graffiti.
On very stubborn graffiti we sometimes use a system called wet blast. In principle, it is the same as the traditional sand blasting method apart from the use of non-silicone sand through the jet wash machine.
Protection Methods
One way to protect your self against graffiti is to put a sacrificial coating (like Fenway park) onto the wall of the building. The sacrificial coating will create a barrier between your wall and the graffiti, which makes the graffiti very easy to remove.
